BCA MANDELA DAY INITIATIVE 2016

Beatification of gardens at the Linden SAPS Wall  of Remembrance

This year, the BCA contributed to the Beautification of the gardens at the Linden SAPS Wall of Remembrance.

Have you been to the gardens / open field at the back of the Linden SAPS station on Boundary Rd in Linden?

Gail Jelley (BCA Beautification), Jed Kemery and Lara from the Linden CPF met to discuss beautifying this area, which is used by the families of those that have died in our service. It’s extremely moving to read some of the names on the wall and realise the sacrifice these officers have made. The gardens around the Wall were a little shabby and there was a dry fountain which we filled in with some colourful plants.

Not only do the families of these officers regularly come and just sit there or have picnics but there is an Annual Remembrance Day at the SAPS station coming up. We thought we’d honour these officers and families, as well as the Linden SAPS, by contributing to this garden and, hopefully, making the time the loved ones spend here just a little more peaceful. Though this will never bring back these brave men and women, they have our deep gratitude and they will never be forgotten.
