How did I get involved in Blairgowrie?

Having lived in Blairgowrie/Craighall Park (Blairgowrie side of the river) for almost 17 years now, only in the last few years have I developed a genuine interest in the welfare of the Suburb having first become involved along the Spruit/Park Initiative with Wally and Carmen Stuart and then being able to expand on this with the establishment of the Blarigowrie Community Association some three years ago. The idea of beautifying the suburb allows us to really enjoy the suburb we live in and contributes to a sense of community! There are so many things that make up “beautifying” a suburb ranging from maintaining our pavement/verges in front of our homes to beautifying our main access to the suburb like the Conrad Drive Traffic Island Beautifcation Project to maintaining all our Parks in and around the suburb and much, much more.

My hope for Blairgowrie

Blairgowrie has so much to offer residents in terms of the facilities it has available either in Blairgowrie  such as all the Parks we have on our doorstep (6 in total), the Community Centre, Squash Courts, Public Swimming Pool and tennis courts at Kenworthy Circle (perhaps we will  raise sufficient funds to repair the facility at some stage).  Just nearby is a Scouts Facility, Old Parktonian Sports Club etc. We sometimes forget to see the bigger picture of what our suburb has to offer and by taking an active interest in it and making some of the improvements,  it builds a momentum of it’s own with more and more people becoming involved in different ways!

What’s my day job?

I work as a Human Resources Consultant currently having specialized in the field for many years!

Park Champions

The BCA has appointed a number of residents to look after the parks in Blairgowrie. (Once again, these residents are not responsible for cleaning the park – although they often do – and tending to park matters on their own.) They are the eyes and ears of the park and report matters - like you would – to City Parks. They keep the BCA Parks Portfolio head and Gail Jelley (Beautification) informed.
